District Middle School Intramural Program
Middle School Students and Parents:
We are very happy to be implementing a district-wide intramural program during our 2011-12 school year. In August and September we will be offering coed soccer; during the months of October and November your school will be offering coed volleyball; in January and February your school will have coed intramural basketball; and in April and May we will conclude the intramural year with coed flag football. If you are interested in participating in intramurals please do not hesitate to see your intramural administrator or the intramural director.
The program is offered at no cost to the student but a permission slip will have to be completed and signed by a parent authorizing student participation. Schools will have the flexibility to offer the intramural program on days and times they choose. This past year we offered this program to sixth and seventh graders, and it had very positive participation. This year is the first year we are offering the intramural program to all middle school students, including eighth graders, and we expect the program to expand.

DISTRICT INTRAMURAL MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Adams 12 Five Star School District Middle School Intramural Program is to aid in the academic, emotional, and physical development of our middle school students through the promotion of teamwork, fun, participation, and sportsmanship. The middle school intramural program is believed to be a valuable asset to the total education process. Research has shown that middle school activities assist in fostering team building skills, problem solving skills, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Through the development of these skills, it is believed that our middle school students, who are involved in intramurals, will become confident, contributing members of the Adams 12 Five Star School community and eventually continue to participate in school activities and athletics at our high schools.
