Residents encouraged to register to vote
Election experts anticipate a large turnout for this year's presidential election. Because of that, those who haven't already registered to vote are encouraged to do so well in advance of the Nov. 4, 2008 General Election.
In support of the democratic process, the Five Star District invites all residents eligible to vote to complete a voter registration form. The last day to register to vote for this year's general election is Monday, Oct. 6, 2008.

All elementary schools to have consistent start and end times beginning in 2008-2009
Morning kindergarten will start at 7:45 a.m. and will end at 10:40 a.m. with early release days ending at 10 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten will start at 11:35 a.m. and will end at 2:30 p.m. with early release days starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 1:15 p.m.
The standardization of all elementary school start and end schedules will allow the elementary schools currently starting at 8:45 a.m. to offer a breakfast program for their students. It will also keep teacher schedules consistent and allow teachers an opportunity to meet and train with colleagues throughout the district.
The change also brings benefits to the middle schools in the Five Star District. The change in elementary schedules will make it possible for an additional 21 school buses to transport middle school student athletes to after-school events at a more efficient time and to maximize their use of daylight hours.
Making these changes will have no impact on school or district budgets.
