Food resource in Boulder/ Broomfield Counties

Community Food Share collects donated food from many sources, and store the donated food in their warehouse where it is sorted, packaged, and checked for spoilage. Approximately 45 local human service agencies rely on Community Food Share for free food to pass on to their clients. They also operate programs like the Feeding Families program which provides free food to families with school-children living in poverty.  

Services are provided for 1 fiscal year or unless their situation changes.  Community Food Share serves residents of Boulder and Broomfield Counties (Individuals do not need to be US citizens) and several staff members speak Spanish.

Feeding Families
Weekly groceries for families whose children are enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program at their school, Boulder County Head Start or Wild Plum Center, or families receiving benefits from WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children). Each family enrolled in the Feeding Families program can shop for one cart-full of groceries weekly. The estimated amount of the groceries is around $150/week.

Feeding Families Program Hours: Wednesday 10-3:45, Thursday  8:30-1:45, and Friday  8:30-1:45 (be here 30 minutes prior to closing so you have time to shop)

Community Food Share welcomes new enrollments for the Feeding Families program on Wednesdays between 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. and Thursdays between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made. Please bring a picture ID, proof of residence, and a letter from one of the organizations listed above WIC or school free/reduced lunch) to enroll.

If applying for the Feeding Families Program, Please bring a picture ID, proof of residence and a letter from either the free or reduced lunch program in your school or WIC to enroll.

Individuals can call Community Food Share directly.  A voucher or referral is not needed.

Emergency Food

Anyone who walks in other door in need of food assistance will receive emergency help. Community Food Share is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:45 pm.

TEFAP

CFS distributes government commodities, available through The Emergency Food Assistance program, to those eligible (up to 185% of federal poverty line). Clients may shop once a month for these popular products.
Community Food Share welcomes new enrollments for the TEFAP program on Wednesdays between 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. and Thursdays between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Unfortunately, no exceptions will be made, and anyone showing up to enroll outside of these hours will be asked to come back during the specified times.

Community Food Share also makes fresh produce, bread, dairy and pantry items available free of charge through the following programs:
