Alternative Licensure Program
This is a one or two year teacher preparation program through which candidates can become licensed, in the state of Colorado, while receiving college credit.
All Alternative Program candidates start by applying to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) (http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/Licensure_AlternativeApp.asp). Once CDE has issued a Statement of Eligibility (SOE), the candidate may apply for any open positions. Once a position has been secured, the candidate will meet the Certified License Coordinator to select which program would be best suited for them.
Please note that while Alternative Licensing is available for all endorsement areas, Adams 12 generally hires Alternative Licensure applicants in critical needs areas such as Math, Science, Foreign Language and Special Education.
Criteria for Alternative Teacher Licensure Programs:
-
Candidate has successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
-
Candidate has completed the 24+ semester hours of content required for the endorsement, as determined by a complete transcript review by the CDE.
-
Candidate has passed the State Board of Education-approved content exam for the endorsement being sought.
-
Candidate has passed a criminal background check, including submission of fingerprints.
-
Candidate has received a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) from CDE. (For the SOE, CDE requires either the 24 hours of the content test. Adams 12 requires both.)
If you meet all of the requirements above, please apply online to open positions posted on the Adams 12 website at www.Adams12.org Careers > Job Vacancies. (Please note that certified teachers are given preference for open positions.)
