First phase of STEM Lab work on pace for 2018 finish

With steel for expansion in place, new part of building takes shape

Thunder Vista passes quarter completion mark; exterior, interior framing continues

Construction on the new Thunder Vista P-8 in Broomfield steamed ahead in November as construction workers took advantage of unseasonably warm weather.

Kevin Harrison, site superintendent for Adolfson and Peterson Construction (AP), estimates the 142,000-square foot building is now about 35 to 40 percent complete.The majority of concrete slab pours inside the building are complete with the exception of the gym pour, which will take place in December.

Construction to begin in December on two school expansion projects

Construction is expected to start in December on two Westminster elementary school expansion projects made possible thanks to the Adams 12 Five Star Schools 2016 Bond Program.

Groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 18 at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary and 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Cotton Creek Elementary.

District earns scholarship from Center for Green Schools

Adams 12 Five Star Schools has been chosen by The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as one of only five districts nationally and the only district in the state of Colorado to receive a School District Scholarship for the 2017-2018 school year.

“Being selected as a recipient of the USGBC Center for Green Schools School District Scholarship, is a great opportunity to gain recognition for the hard work that is happening in our district each day," said Shannon Oliver, assistant director of energy and sustainability.

Interior work on building expansion to begin soon

Construction on the reconstructed STEM Lab in Northglenn moved ahead in December and remains on pace for an August 2019 completion.
