New P-8 school, pair of expansions finished in August
Adams 12 Five Star Schools will celebrate the completion of three major bond construction projects during the month of September.
Construction recently wrapped on the year-plus construction of the new Thunder Vista P-8 in Broomfield as well as classroom expansion projects at Arapahoe Ridge and Cotton Creek elementary schools in Westminster.
All three projects were identified as part of the 2016 Bond Program to alleviate overcrowding in the growing northwest portion of the district. Thunder Vista will eventually serve about 1,000 preschool- through eighth-grade students. Twelve new classrooms at Arapahoe Ridge and eight new classrooms at Cotton Creek allowed both schools to remove long-used mobile classrooms. Arapahoe Ridge was also able to add a pilot tuition-based preschool program.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for Thunder Vista P-8 will be 4 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27 and will include a brief ceremony followed by tours of the new building. Cotton Creek will host an expansion ribbon cutting ceremony from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13 and Arapahoe Ridge will hold a similar ceremony from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25. Building tours will also be available at both buildings.
The public is invited to attend all of the ceremonies to see the impact their $350 million investment in Adams 12 Five Star Schools is having in the lives of students and staff.
