Construction continues on FutureForward campus
Work on new facility moves ahead with focus on health requirements
Despite the changes and challenges of the past few months and with an eye toward health and safety, construction has been able to steadily move forward.
Work has included the installation of the building roof, exterior framing work and continued interior work. The work has been able to move forward at a steady space even as construction workers on site follow new health precautions prompted by the presence of the Coronavirus in our state.
The new campus, located near 126th Avenue and Washington Street in Thornton, remains on scheduled to open in the 2020-2021 school year and is expected to increase CTE opportunities for district students by as much as 80 percent.
FutureForward encompasses all career and technical education programming districtwide. FutureForward gives all students a competitive advantage as they enter college, career or the military. Students in FutureForward: Explore opportunities that prepare them for high-demand careers and give them an edge entering college; Engage in authentic, hands-on learning; and Equip themselves with relevant, rigorous and practical skills. There are two FutureForward campuses offering unique career-oriented programming: FutureForward at Bollman and FutureForward at Washington Square. Programs are also available at each of the district’s five comprehensive high schools.
In addition to the new CTE campus construction, the second phase of a two-year bond renovation project to update facilities and programming at the Bollman campus is wrapping up in Summer 2020.
