Interior, exterior framing starts on Arapahoe Ridge
Roof work expected to begin in May
The empty steel frame of the expansion project at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary in Westminster will become a memory over the next month.
With the structural steel frame in place and concrete slabs poured for the two-floor, 18,000 square-foot expansion, contractors were already working their way around the new portion of the building by late April, installing exterior metal wall studs. Interior wall framing for the expansion's 12 new classrooms was also under way by the end of the month. As wall framing continues, work is also anticipated to begin on the roof in May.
Despite a challenging and wet spring, JHL Constructors is targeting an August completion date for the new building in time for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
The expansion of Arapahoe Ridge will not only add classrooms and provide space for the district to add a preschool program at the school but also allow for the removal of four mobile classrooms.
