Start of steel planned for Arapahoe Ridge expansion in March
Construction moves forward on 18,000-square-foot addition
March will be a big month for the ongoing expansion of the Arapahoe Ridge Elementary in Westminster.
According to the current construction timeline, steel work on the 18,000-square-foot expansion is scheduled to begin about mid-March. The start of construction on the addition's steel skeleton marks a major milestone in project.
Most of the work in February focused on foundation prep work to pave the way for the building structure to rise. Major work also included the rerouting of an 8-inch water line that ran under the new planned foundation. The completion of the water line allowed for the drilling and completion of the 73 foundational caissons to resume.
The expansion of Arapahoe Ridge will add 12 classrooms to the building, including preschool classrooms, and will allow the school to remove four mobile classroom buildings. It is anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2018-19 school year. JHL Constructors is the contractor for the project.
