Learning Operations

Information about Online Learning for the 2021-2022 School Year
We want to share an update with you about our online programming for next school year for families who selected that option for their students.

With our commitment to provide continued flexibility for families with COVID-19 related concerns and offer the most robust online learning opportunity for our students, we are excited to share that we will operate the Five Star Online program at the district level. Students will be able to stay connected with their neighborhood school by participating in extracurricular activities and athletics. Seniors will graduate from their home high school.

Families who selected online learning for next year should have received an email with additional details. Please contact your child’s school if you have questions about which learning model they are enrolled in.

Positive News Stories

Coyote Ridge students with banner

We have great news stories to share from across the district - from our amazing staff to our stand out students!

  • A learning specialist at Cherry Drive Elementary raised money to buy hundreds of books for her students. She wrote them each a note on the inside of their brand-new book. “I truly believe by having them pick their own books throughout this year, they have become more excited about reading, and I could not be more excited for that!” Thank you, Ms. Lederman. We appreciate you!

  • Legacy High School’s Student Government made an encouraging banner for Coyote Ridge Elementary students. What a great way to show support!

  • Gracie, a student at Cotton Creek Elementary, raised more than $1,000 for a local nonprofit. She got a boost from her school’s School Resource Officer and fellow officers from Westminster Police Department. Way to go, Gracie!

See these positive news stories and many more on our website. We encourage you to submit an uplifting story about a student, educator, school or other staff member today!

Health & Safety

Vaccine Information
For parents and guardians of children, 16 and older, who are interested in their child receiving a COVID vaccination or if you are interested in receiving a COVID vaccine, contact your primary care physician or visit the CDPHE website to find out where you can get vaccinated.

Family Reminders

Building Healthy Communities
Five Star staff in conjunction with community partners held a series of community events this year to support students and families and equip them with knowledge and skills to navigate the unique pathways of youth development. This year we covered everything from strategies to support our social-emotional wellbeing in moments of crisis to navigating difficult conversations with the youth in our lives. Learn more and access recordings of the live events at adams12.org/bhc.

Meal Benefits
Pandemic EBT, or P-EBT, provides funds for households to support youth nutrition. P-EBT may be available this spring to students who have filled out an application and qualified for free or reduced-price lunch while learning remotely through a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program. Learn more at https://cdhs.colorado.gov/p-ebt

Fill Out A School Meals Application
Your household’s Free and Reduced-Price Lunch program (school meals) application can also qualify for support with other services, such as internet, gym memberships, passes to museums and cultural events and secure additional funds for your school. School fees can be waived or reduced, such as athletic fees, and activity and field trip fees tied to curriculum. Apply online for school meal benefits at myschoolapps.com.

Summer BASE Program
The Summer BASE Program provides opportunities for our students to connect with others, allowing youth to engage and explore through various activities like nutrition education, arts & crafts, science, math and literacy activities, daily physical activity, organized games, and creative free-time play (while following safety protocols).

  • Operates June 2 - Aug. 6, 2021

  • Open Monday-Friday, 7:15 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.

  • Students will attend two off-site field trips each week. Field trips will be thoughtfully selected to allow for physical distancing and COVID safety protocols.
