The purpose of state assessments are to:

Meet federal and state statutes

Provide data for accountability

Gauge the effectiveness of the curriculum, programs and interventions

Inform improvement planning

Determine whether students have met established benchmarks for achievement and growth
The Colorado State Assessment System is designed to measure Colorado students’ mastery of the Colorado academic content standards. In December of 2009, Colorado adopted new academic content standards that progress from early school readiness to postsecondary competencies that reflect workforce readiness and 21st century skills.
