International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Courses
International Baccalaureate (IB)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is offered at Thornton High School. The IB program supports students in taking ownership over their learning and helps them develop future-ready skills to make a difference in our ever-changing world. 11th and 12th grade students can take part in the IB Diploma Program. Students in the Diploma Program have the opportunity to take exams and earn college credit with a qualifying score.
Admissions to IB are managed by the Choice Program and the application based Diploma Program at Thornton High School is managed directly by the school. Please visit the school's website for more information about their program.

Advanced Placement (AP) Program
The Advanced Placement Program allows students to engage in college-level learning and show mastery of advanced material by taking AP exams. Students can earn college credit, advanced placement in college, or both from thousands of colleges and universities that participate in the AP Program.
Every school in the Five Star District offers a variety of AP courses, totaling more than 30 courses offered across the district. More than 2,000 students take 4,000 exams every year. Please check your high school's registration guide to find out what Advanced Placement courses are available.
The AP Program is administered by the College Board. For more information about the AP Program and the College Board, go to www.collegeboard.org.
