International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Courses
International Baccalaureate (IB)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program provides a rigorous, well-rounded education for students throughout the world. IB prepares students for adulthood by enhancing skills in creativity, critical thinking, technology, and international understanding.
We are thrilled to offer the complete IB K-12 continuum. The IB program begins with the Primary Years Program (PYP) in grades K-5, continues with the Middle Years Program (MYP) in grades 6-10 and culminates with the Diploma Program (DP) in grades 11-12. Students can enter the IB program at any grade level.
Admissions to PYP and MYP are managed by the Choice Program.
Admission to DP at Thornton High School is managed directly by the school. Please visit the school's website for more information about their program.

Advanced Placement (AP) Program
The Advanced Placement Program allows students to engage in college-level learning and show mastery of advanced material by taking AP exams. Students can earn college credit, advanced placement in college, or both from thousands of colleges and universities that participate in the AP Program.
Every school in the Five Star District offers a variety of AP courses, totaling more than 30 courses offered across the district. More than 2,000 students take 4,000 exams every year. Please check your high school's registration guide to find out what Advanced Placement courses are available.
The AP Program is administered by the College Board. For more information about the AP Program and the College Board, go to www.collegeboard.org.
