Curriculum & Instruction
Standards
The Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) are the Colorado Department of Education defined expectations of what students need to know, understand and be able to do at the end of each grade. State Academic Standards are the basis of the annual state-assessment such as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS).
Common Core is a national initiative adopted by forty five states and the District of Columbia, designed to align academic standards across the United States educational system.
Curriculum
Each school district has the responsibility to develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with the state-standards. The curriculum is the scope and sequence of the standards in each content area, at each grade level; as well as the instructional expectations and approved materials that ensure all students are provided with a grade level appropriate, rigorous educational experience. Adams 12 Five Star Schools strives to develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with standards to ensure students are prepared for success in college and careers.
