Per Policy 5230, students must be 5 years old by October 1 to enroll in kindergarten. 

Per Policy 5240, please see the Early Access Procedure for School Year 2026-2027 below.

2.2       Procedures: The following procedures will be followed to determine whether a highly advanced gifted child who is age four (4) by October 1 may be enrolled in kindergarten (prior to the age requirement in District Policy 5230), or age five by October 1 may be enrolled in first grade.

Early Access is only available to families who reside in the Adams 12 Five Star School District boundaries. Please check the School Finder to verify your school boundaries.

The Early Access application window is open January 5, 2026 - April 1, 2026. No applications will be accepted after April 1, 2026

Children who are approved for Early Access will be provided with documentation to support registration and are eligible to participate in Round 2 of the Adams 12 Choice Process.

Request Application

There are 2 ways to begin the Early Access process.

Access to the Application

Applications will be emailed to interested families who complete the Early Access Request Form and meet application criteria to apply.

 

Application Submission

Submit applications using:

Subject: EA Application

Complete applications must be received by the deadline. 

 

No applications will be accepted after April 1.

Level 1 Application Review

Application Portfolio Review including rating scales, surveys, and performance evidence

Based on the results, applicants who meet criteria will move to Level 2 Assessments. Parents will be notified by email.

Level 2 Assessment

30 - 60 minutes; 1:1 assessment, Academic Skills

Parents will be notified by email of their child’s appointment time

Based on the results of this review, applicants who meet criteria will move to Level 3 Assessments. Parents will be notified by email.

Level 3 Assessment

60 - 90 minutes; 1:1 assessment, Reasoning Ability

Parents will be notified by email of their child’s appointment time

Following Level 3 Assessments, the designated district team will review the body of evidence.

Final Review

The designated district review team conducts a review.

 

Determination & Notification

Parents will be notified of the Early Access decision by email. 

 

*The District may consider cognitive test results within three months of application from outside licensed professionals paid by the family.
