Vision

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is a caring, inclusive, and engaging district which exists so the students it serves can attain the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue the future of their choosing and are equipped to navigate and thrive in our rapidly changing world.

Mission

To engage and inspire all students to innovate, achieve and succeed in a safe environment by ensuring high-quality instruction in every classroom, every day.

The Board

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is the policy-making body for the district. Its powers and duties are established in state law. The Board is comprised of five members that are elected to four-year, staggered terms. Board members may serve two consecutive terms. The district has a director district plan of representation which requires that school board members reside in a specific geographic area within the Five Star School District boundaries. Board members are elected by a vote of the electors of the entire school district. The district’s Boundary Locator provides information regarding director districts for specific addresses. Board members are not paid; they give freely of their time to serve the Five Star community.

Meetings and Agenda

The Board of Education meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month, except in July, August and January. See the Board of Education Calendar for the schedule of meetings. Board meetings are held at the Educational Support Center, 1500 E. 128th Avenue, Thornton at 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Work study and executive sessions are held as needed in advance of the regular session. See agendas posted on the Five Star web site for details.

Until further notice Board meetings will be held via Zoom and viewable on Five Star YouTube Live.  The link to YouTube will be available in the agenda on BoardDocs just before the meeting starts. Meetings will begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.  Anyone interested in addressing the Board during Public Comment can sign up via the Google Form link in the agenda.

Agendas for regular meetings are available via BoardDocs  on the Board page of the District website the Friday prior to Board meetings. The Board hears General Public Comment as a regular agenda item at the second meeting of the month and at the first meeting of the month as the agenda permits.
