Big Ideas Math

Big Ideas Math is the culmination of over two years of standards analysis, resource review, public review and piloting within our district.

By utilizing Big Ideas Math®, middle school students in Adams 12 Five Star Schools are able to learn through engaging activities and relevant examples, followed by direct instructional lessons that build on previously taught information.

We believe in a balanced approach to mathematics instruction; providing students with the opportunity to learn through direct instruction as well as conceptual activities. In addition to this approach, the program also prepares students to be successful on standardized testing, as the curriculum utilizes questions similar to those used in both state and district assessments.

Math Counts

Each year Adams 12 Five Star Schools is proud to offer nearly three hundred middle school students the opportunity to participate in the district-sponsored MathCounts preliminaries and finals competitions.  The MathCounts Competition Series is ideal for students who possess a talent and passion for math.  Students engage in exciting, "bee-style" contests in which they compete against and alongside other bright, motivated students for a chance to compete at the district, state and potentially the national level.

Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC)

Through impactful professional development and instructional coaching, our schools are providing quality, literacy-based instruction across content areas. As a district, it is our goal to ensure our students obtain the literacy skills necessary to be successful post-graduation.

Adams 12 Five Star Schools utilizes Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) to provide an instruction design system that allows students to learn through completing literacy-rich tasks within multiple content areas. To learn more about the building blocks and modules of LDC, please visit the LDC website.
