Enrolling in preschool is as easy as 1-2-3
All 4-year-olds and some 3-year-olds qualify for some FREE half-day preschool. High-quality preschool sets students up for success in kindergarten. Five Star preschool students get a jump start on literacy, cognition and social skills. Follow the steps below to enroll your child for the 2026-2027 school year.
Families interested in preschool for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year will need to apply at upk.colorado.gov
Follow the simple steps below to enroll your child:
Step 1:
Save your spot! Priority pre-registration opens Dec 1!
Families who enroll using our priority pre-registration process get first access to their preferred locations and can lock their spot in before the state application opens December 9th. Pre-registration is available to:
- Students who will be 4-years-old by Oct. 1, 2026 AND
- Live in the district’s boundaries OR
- Have a sibling in an Adams 12 Five Star School OR
- Have a parent or guardian who works for Adams 12 Five Star Schools OR
- Are currently attending one of our preschool programs
Step 2:
Complete state application
- Your pre-registration gives you first priority for your preferred preschool location. When the state application opens on December 9th, you MUST complete the state’s Universal Preschool application.
Step 3:
State notifies families where their child has a spot AND Families MUST accept or decline the spot
- The State notifies families where their child has a spot, and families must then accept or decline the spot.
- Families that do nothing, or miss the deadline for accept/decline, their application will continue to be rematched in future rounds until a spot is accepted.
