THS School-Based Health Center:

I am proud to announce the Royal Health Center is now open to provide healthcare to our Trojans - thank you Kids First Health Care! Our school-based health center offers the following services for THS students: annual physicals, vaccines, sick/injury visits, care for chronic conditions, mental health care, health education, confidential services, and dental care. There are no out-of-pocket costs for these services, and health insurance is not required. To take advantage of this amazing service, all you need to do is complete the enrollment form.

Current hours of operation for the Royal Health Center:

  • Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm

  • Closed for lunch 12:00 pm to 12:30pm

The Royal Health Center at Thornton High School provides the following health care services for Thornton High School (THS) and FutureForward at Bollman students:

  • Annual check-ups/ sports physicals
  • Vaccines
  • Visits for sickness/ injury
  • Care for chronic conditions
  • Confidential teen health services
  • Health education on diet, exercise, alcohol/drug prevention, etc.
  • Preventive dental care
  • Mental health services - coming soon

Important Info

THS and Bollman students can enroll in the Royal Health Center to receive convenient, on-site medical care during the school day.

  • The health center is open during school hours for THS and Bollman students only.
  • The health center can serve as students’ primary care provider (PCP) or as an additional resource for students who have an outside provider.
  • Student must complete an enrollment form English | Spanish to receive care. Either complete the online enrollment form or return a completed and signed enrollment form to your school’s main office or the health center (THS room 226). Students under age 18 must have their parent or guardian sign the enrollment form; students 18 and older can sign the form themselves.
  • Before enrolling, please read the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices: English | Spanish.
  • All THS and Bollman students can enroll in the SBHC, regardless of health insurance status, immigration status, or regular source of health care.
  • The health center will bill insurance (including Medicaid, CHP+, and private insurance) whenever possible but will not collect any out-of-pocket copays or fees. Insurance is not required for medical care.

Survey Results

Thanks to THS staff, students, and parents for providing their feedback on the new health center!  The health center has been making improvements based on the survey results.

Background Information

In order to make this grant-funded SBHC a reality, Adams 12 Five Star Schools has partnered with the following organizations:

  • Kids First Health Care, a local medical non-profit, serves as the primary fundraiser and as the pass through organization for funding. Kids First also provides staffing for the School-Based Health Center (SBHC). Kids First established the first SBHC in Colorado in Adams County School District 14 in 1978, which was the second SBHC established in the country.
  • The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is providing operating funds for the SBHC for a period of four years. The four years of funding will allow Kids First to create ongoing and sustainable operational funding through Medicaid.
  • The City of Thornton (via the Community Development Block Grant) provided $220,000 in capital for construction.
  • The Colorado Health Foundation provided $300,000 for construction.
  • Caring for Colorado provided $50,000 for construction and architectural design. 

The construction and operation of the SBHC is completely grant funded and will not require the district to provide funds from the operations budget or bond funding.
