Volunteer of the Year

2021-22 Volunteer of the Year:

Lieutenant Tracy Post, FutureForward at Washington Square

“Lieutenant Tracy Post has been in the fire service for over 15 years. She has been an integral part of the success in our firefighting program at Washington Square. Her knowledge around the career is vast and she is always more than willing to help our students. Lieutenant Post currently works for Westminster Fire but she lives in Greeley. On days she is not working at the station, she can often be found volunteering at our FutureForward campus. She is more than qualified as a master level firefighting skills instructor.  Lieutenant Post works with our students to practice hands-on skills needed in the fire service. She also volunteers at our Live-Fire days to help ensure every student is successful. Our students trust and respect Lieutenant Post. She has done a great job building relationships with our students and preparing them for a career in the fire service. It is evident that Lieutenant Post genuinely cares about our students. Tracy has also been monumental in implementing the internship program within Westminster Fire. Currently, we have a student interning under Lieutenant Post. She has welcomed this opportunity and is truly giving our students hands-on experience and insight as to what a career in the fire-service looks like.

Lieutenant Post also puts in hard work on the program development side as well. She has spent countless hours attending board meetings, advisory meetings etc. advocating for our program. She has worked hand in hand with our instructor to develop a curriculum that is current and relevant. She has also done a lot of work with local agencies to continue to develop opportunities for our students outside of the classroom.

Lieutenant Post serves as a wonderful role model to all of our students but specifically our female students. In a male dominated field, Lieutenant Post knows first hand the hard work and dedication it takes to be successful in the fire service. Tracy has been an important part of developing our non-traditional enrollment in the firefighting program. She has served as a phenomenal role model to our female students as they pursue this career pathway. Lieutenant Post is also an invaluable asset at our Girls’ Day In event, where girls come from all over the district to try out some of our non-traditional programs. Tracy worked with these girls to give them a glimpse into the fire service and build their capacity and confidence in this program.  We feel lucky to have such a positive, genuine and knowledgeable volunteer working with our Firefighting program on a consistent basis. We are honored to know and work with Lieutenant Tracy Post!”
