Demolition work paves way for reconstruction, expansion of STEM Lab

First walls go up at new P-8 school in Broomfield

After slogging through a muddy May, the pace has quickened at the construction site for the new P-8 school in Broomfield.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) Site Superintendent Kevin Harrison said the project has found a rhythm after spates of poor weather slowed initial progress. Construction workers are now pushing to make up for any lost time and keep the project on a tight delivery timeline for its planned Fall 2018 opening.


 

Community, business leaders invited to help shape new CTE programming

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is seeking the insight and expertise of community, business and industry leaders to help shape future district Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming. Thanks to the 2016 Bond Program, Five Star Schools will invest more than $24 million into the development of a second CTE campus as well as improvements and renovations to the existing CTE facility.

The district is asking industry partners to join them for upcoming industry talks to ensure it is creating new and expanded programming that provides Five Star students the right skills, opportunities and learning environments to access in-demand careers.


 

LRPAC members update board on bond progress

Members of the Five Star Schools Long Range Facility Planning Advisory Committee (LRPAC) presented its biannual report at the Board of Education's regular meeting in May, highlighting the committee's work over the past year and updating the board on the status of district bond projects.

In addition to serving in a planning and advisory role for the district, LRPAC members also function in a bond accountability role. As part of this role, members receive regular reports on bond projects as well as financial updates. Their work is to ensure bond projects are on time, on budget and that the taxpayer-approved money is being used for its stated purposes.
