Bond Passed Graphic

Letter from Superintendent Chris Gdowski

Thank you! Thank you for investing in the students of Adams 12 Five Star Schools. As of Wednesday morning, Issue 3D was earning voter approval at 61 percent!

With your support for Issue 3D in the election yesterday, we now begin the work of implementing the $350 million bond which will invest in every student, every school and every community. The bond will repair aging school buildings so all of our students have a safe, comfortable and dry environment in which to learn. It will address overcrowding. And it will open new career opportunities for our students with the expansion of class offerings in the skilled trades, medical sciences, advanced manufacturing and more. All of this will happen because of your commitment to investing in our students, our schools and our communities.

With the passage of 3D, our work has just begun. The Five Star community has given the green light to make these necessary investments in support of student success. Now it is our job as a district, and my job as superintendent, to be a good steward of your investment.

Next week, our Long Range Planning Advisory Committee (LRPAC), made up of community members from across the district, will meet for the first time since the passage of 3D. This citizens committee was instrumental in developing the bond package; and it will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing bond projects to ensure they align with what was approved by voters. The LRPAC will provide biannual reports to the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education that will include progress updates on individual bond projects.

We will provide regular updates to the Five Star community about the work being done to implement the 2016 Bond. You will have the opportunity to follow the progress at www.adams12.org/bond. For each school’s investment plan, you’ll be able to track the current stage of the project, from planning and design to construction and completion.

On a personal note, thank you for the passion and energy you bring to supporting our students in the Five Star District. This district is thriving because of your commitment to student success, and recent academic results show it. The Five Star District is now a performance-rated district as measured through the state’s accreditation process. With the investment of 3D in our schools, we will build upon these successes.

Strong schools build strong communities, and strong communities support strong schools. Thank you for your support!
