The U.S. Department of Education Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) recognized the Bollman Technical Education Center (BTEC) for “excellence, dedication and leadership in the field of Career Technical Education.”
The recognition is due in large part to BTEC’s 2014 Action Award from the National Association of State Directors for Career and Technical Education Consortium. BTEC was one of six schools nationwide that were honored for their innovative approach to student education, specifically real-world learning experiences that lead to increased career opportunities.
Located in Thornton, BTEC prepares students for today’s competitive and dynamic workplace. Its career and technical programs equip high school students from across the Five Star District with post-secondary and workforce skills. BTEC offers post-secondary and career readiness programs in computer science, engineering, auto technology, carpentry, Computer Aided Design (CAD), graphic and video design, medical sciences, welding and more.
To stay current with industry standards and innovation, each program has an advisory committee comprised of business professionals, community members, educators and students.
