A Chromebook for every student

We are excited to provide a Chromebook to all students this school year.

The Five Star District is thrilled to announce that it will provide a Chromebook and charger to every student in kindergarten through twelfth grade beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.

This initiative marks a huge step forward, offering more equal access to technology for all Five Star students and easing the financial burden on families who previously had to purchase devices for their children to use at school.

“Technology can transform the classroom experience,” Interim Director of Student Learning Pathways and Online Programming Mary Beth Bazzanella said. “Providing a device for every student ensures equitable access and opportunity to the tools they need to thrive in a digitally connected world.”

Students will be able to use their devices in the classroom and for school work at home, depending on their class and grade level. Parents can expect more detailed information from their schools in the coming weeks, and can also learn more on the district’s website, which contains answers to frequently asked questions, including information about device care, data privacy and how to access device support.

This initiative comes as part of the district’s five-year strategic plan ELEVATE, which specifically aims to support students as they collaborate, think critically, problem-solve and become digitally literate to succeed in an ever-changing world.
