Community meetings planned for school expansion projects

Friday, August 18, 2017 - 3:00pm

Construction to begin in early 2018

The anticipated start of construction is about four months away on two major school expansion projects and now parents and community members will have a chance to get a first look at design and construction plans for both schools.

Adams 12 Five Star Schools will host pre-construction community meetings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, at Cotton Creek Elementary.

The meetings for the respective projects will feature design overviews from architect, RB+B, and then a look at the planned construction timeline from JHL Constructors, the General Manager/Construction Manager for the school expansions. Parents and community members will also be able to get their questions answered about the pending work.

Arapahoe Ridge and Cotton Creek were both identified as part of the Five Star District 2016 Bond Program to receive expansions to eliminate the need for modular classrooms. Arapahoe Ridge will receive a 12-classroom expansion, which will also allow the school to add a preschool program. Cotton Creek will receive an eight-classroom expansion.

Construction is expected to start in early 2018 with an anticipated completion for the start of the 2018-19 school year. Arapahoe and Cotton Creek will also receive upgrades to their existing facilities including building system and safety and security improvements. These are expected to take place in Summer 2018.
