Upcoming opportunities for information on safety and graduation requirements

Families are invited to participate in two different informational opportunities this March:

Community Safety Night 

Two nights to choose from (identical presentations at each event):

  • Tuesday, March 5, 2019
  • Wednesday, March 13, 2019
  • 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Educational Support Center (1500 E. 128th Ave, Thornton, CO 80241)

Learn about district safety policies, procedures and home safety tips. 

Community Safety night is a family information night centered around how the district keeps your child safe. Hear from district officials, police and fire departments and BeSMART regarding procedures for emergency situations, safety trainings and threat assessments. Learn tips on how to report suspicious activity and to talk with your children about traumatic or violent events. 

Snacks provided. Free and open to all. No RSVP required but if you would like interpretation services, please call (720) 972-4146.

Board of Education Community Night - Graduation Requirements and Capstones for the Class of 2021 and Beyond

  • Horizon High School (5321 E. 136th Avenue, Thornton, CO 80602)

Join the Board of Education in learning more about the state's new graduation requirements for the classes of 2021 and beyond. Conversation will be focused around how students can ensure they are successful in demonstrating "College and Career Readiness". Additional conversation will center around a new Capstone pilot, industry certifications and Pathway's competency-based diploma. 

This community-oriented conversation with the Board of Education is an excellent opportunity to learn and discuss the new requirements, especially for middle and high school students and families.
