Five Star Stories Spotlight
We were awarded our Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant in five of our elementary schools for the 2021-22 school year, allowing us to serve our fruits and vegetables in a more creative way. Last Wednesday, we held our first FFVP Farmer's Market at Federal Heights, North Star, Stukey, Rocky Mountain and Thornton Elementary Schools.
Families were able to pick up a bag of fresh produce including peaches, avocados, eggplant, zucchini, carrots and kumquats. Based on difficult staffing this school year we knew it would be difficult to get all of the produce (249 cases) sorted and bagged and out to families, so we really had to collaborate with various groups within the district to make this work. Warehouse, Student and Family Outreach, Intervention Services, Facilities, and Nutrition Services all came together to make this a very successful first event. We couldn't have done it without the collaboration of the various teams to make this work and we look forward to our upcoming Farmer’s Markets!

We love seeing the good our Five Star community does every day. Who else should we talk to? Let us know!
