District earns the Colorado School Counseling Corps Grant
Adams 12 Five Star Schools was recently awarded the Colorado School Counseling Corps Grant. Focusing on Postsecondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) for high school students, the goals of the grant are to increase graduation completion rates, decrease dropout rates, increase Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion and increase the number of students participating in postsecondary education.
Our school counselors are dedicated to ensuring that we deliver a data driven comprehensive K-12 counseling curriculum to all of our students. Through this work, the counselors assist students in the creation of their Individual Career Academic Plans (ICAP). The funding from this grant will have a focus on ensuring that our students have the support needed to transition from high school to either a career or college pathway after graduation.
Beginning in the fall of 2017 one additional counselor will be hired in each of our comprehensive high schools to focus on the goals of the grant. The $1.25 million award will be spread out over four years with the first year of the grant established as a working year.
