The Great American Eclipse

August 21, 2017

On August 21, 2017 at 11:47 a.m., our district will experience a 93% eclipse of the sun. It has been nearly 100 years since this rare phenomenon last occurred in the United States. As such, many of our teachers are excited to use this event as an opportunity for students to engage in real-world learning activities. To ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience, all students and staff will be required to use special eclipse-viewing safety glasses or pinhole cameras when viewing the eclipse.

Schools participating in the viewing of the eclipse will require all students to return a signed permission slip by Monday, August 21st in order to take part in the outdoor viewing.  Attached is the Permission Slip|español.

For information on the learning activities taking place at your school, please contact the school’s main office.
