Former district employee Mary Louise Sanchez to share new novel
On Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, the Hispanic Advisory Council is sponsoring a meet-the-author night with local author, Mary Louise Sanchez. Her debut middle grade novel, “The Wind Called My Name”, was the 2016 recipient of Lee and Low Books New Visions Award.
Join us from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at STEM Launch (9450 N Pecos St, Thornton, CO 80260). The event is free and open to the public.
This is the make-up date from a snowed our January event.
"The Wind Called My Name” explores the merging of two cultures and worlds when the main character moves from New Mexico to Wyoming where traditions, customs and family begin to collide. But, at the same time, love and understanding ensues.
Join us for a lively discussion with the author on the book; a display of Hispano cultural traditions; and share some traditional foods. Signed books will be available for purchase.
Mary Louise Sanchez was a teacher-librarian at North Mor Elementary in Adams 12 Five Star Schools for 16 years; has four adult children, all who graduated from the Five Star District; has five grandchildren who attend or have graduated from schools in the Five Star District; and is a member of the Hispanic Advisory Council. She and her husband live in Thornton.
