New school in Broomfield to be named Thunder Vista P-8

Friday, September 29, 2017 - 11:00am

School scheduled to open Fall 2018

The votes are in and the new P-8 school under construction in the Anthem community of Broomfield has a name and mascot.

The new school will be called Thunder Vista P-8 and the school mascot will be the Buffalo.

The name and mascot, as well as school colors (Royal Blue and Aqua), were announced after community members voted on five name, mascot and color finalists earlier in September. The selected name, mascot and colors received the most votes.

Name and mascot recommendations were solicited from the public during the month of August. The nearly 100 suggestions received were narrowed down by district staff and community members based on criteria of aligning with district policy and establishing a unique identity for the new school. A small committee of district staff members and community members independently generated the five school color combinations that were considered. Learn more about the naming process here

A logo for the school will be unveiled in early 2018. Thunder Vista is planned to open for the 2018-19 school year. Learn more about the school at
