Eight schools earn awards from the Colorado Department of Education
Adams 12 Five Star Schools is proud to announce that eight schools have earned school performance awards from the Colorado Department of Education in three categories. Members of the district’s leadership team surprised each of the schools to recognize the hard work of staff and community to help students succeed academically in every classroom, every day.
Centers of Excellence
Each year, the Colorado Department of Education recognizes public schools in the state that enroll a student population of which at least 75 percent are at-risk pupils and that demonstrate the highest rates of student longitudinal growth, as measured by the Colorado Growth Model. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools have demonstrated impressive results on the indicator relating to longitudinal academic growth.
The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award
The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools received an "Exceeds Expectations" rating on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and "Meets or Exceeds Expectations" on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.
The John Irwin award
The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. These schools received an "Exceeds Expectations" rating on the Academic Achievement indicator of the School Performance Frameworks reflecting exceptional performance in Math, English Language Arts, and Science.
