75 Years of Leadership: The Board of Ed Then & Now

75 Years of Leadership: The Board of Ed Then & Now

As Adams 12 Five Star Schools proudly celebrates its 75th anniversary, we also take time this January to recognize School Board Recognition Month and the dedicated individuals who have guided our district through decades of growth, change, and student success.

From the very beginning, strong board leadership has been central to our mission. The first members of the Adams 12 Board of Education — Ted Hulstrom, Merritt Hutton, Stanley Carlson, Percy McElwain and Art Eppinger — helped lay the foundation for what would become a vibrant and inclusive educational community in our region. Their service in the district’s early years set the stage for future generations of students, staff and leaders.

Today, the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education continues that legacy as the policy-making body for the district, comprised of five members elected to four-year, staggered terms. Board members give freely of their time to represent community interests and advance excellence and equity in educational opportunities for all students.

Though the faces and times have changed over the past 75 years, the heart of our Board’s work, serving students and families with integrity, vision and community commitment, remains the same. During this anniversary year, we extend deep gratitude to all board members who have served throughout our district’s history for their leadership and service.
