Assessment data shows strong growth in reading and math

Assessment data shows strong growth in reading and math

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is celebrating newly released data from the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment, which shows significant strides in student achievement and growth.

This latest assessment data shows that students in every single grade level from first through eighth grade achieved a median growth percentile of 50 percent or higher in both reading and math. This means that Five Star students saw growth that met or exceeded at least half of their peers nationwide in every grade that takes this assessment.

"These MAP results, particularly the significant growth in both reading and math across all grade levels, reflect the incredible commitment of our teachers and staff," Chief Academic Officer Megan Cain said. "Having all eight grade levels exceed the 50th percentile for student growth is a powerful indicator of success for all Five Star students, and we look forward to sustaining this momentum next year."

MAP, which evaluates reading and math skills, is administered several times throughout the school year for students in first through eighth grade. The assessment measures student performance in two ways: achievement and growth. Achievement measures how well students scored on the most recent test. Growth measures how student performance improved between the two most recent tests.

Here are some other highlights from the recently released assessment data:

Growth:

  • All eight grade levels had a median growth percentile of 50 percent or more in both reading and math.
  • In math, all eight grade levels improved growth significantly when compared to last school year.
  • In reading, four grade levels improved growth (3, 4, 5 and 6), while 2 grade levels remained the same (1 and 8) and two grade levels declined (2 and 7).

Achievement:

  • Reading: Five grade levels improved compared to last year (1, 3, 4, 6 and 7) while one grade level remained the same (8) and two grade levels declined (2 and 5).
  • Math: Seven grade levels improved in 2025-26, with only grade 2 remaining the same.
