Board of Education Recognizes Gun Violence Awareness Day

The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education voted to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day at its May 24 meeting. National Gun Violence Awareness Day is the first Friday in June.
National Gun Violence Awareness Day honors victims of gun violence, and is observed on the first Friday in June in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, a Chicago teenager who was shot and killed at the age of 15 in 2022.
The proclamation recognizes a commitment to reducing gun violence and encouraging responsible gun ownership. You can read the entire proclamation here.
