Board of Education in support of Proposition FF

The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education, by a vote of 3-2, passed a resolution in support of Proposition FF at its Sept. 21 regular board meeting. If passed, Prop FF would create and fund the Healthy School Meals for All Program in Colorado to reimburse participating schools to provide free meals to all students and provide schools with local food purchasing grants and school food-related funding.

In its resolution, the board highlighted the following:

• per Hunger Free Colorado, more than 60,000 kids in Colorado can't afford school meals, but don't qualify for free or reduced-price lunches
• Hunger Free Colorado also reports that 2 out of every 5 Colorado families struggle to put food on the table for their children
• school meal programs lead to improved health, better grades, higher attendance, and increased graduation rates
