Choice Opens Dec. 1 for the 2024-25 school year

You always have a place at your neighborhood school, but may choose to enroll your student in a school outside of your neighborhood school as long as there is sufficient programming, staff and space at the school.

Choice enrollment allows K-12 students to apply to attend a school outside of their boundary. Choice for the 2024-25 school year opens on Friday, December 1, 2023. On Dec. 1, the list of schools open to Choice will be posted to the district website. Choice is a random lottery system, not first-come, first-served. However, the deadline for priority consideration is January 31, 2024.

Applying for Choice is Easy

Here’s how:

  • Find the district school that best meets your student’s needs by viewing our Programs webpages, reviewing your boundary school, reviewing our list of schools (by using the “Our Schools” dropdown at the top of the page) and their geographic locations. This is for grades K-12 only.

  • Apply between December 1, 2023 and January 31, 2024 by ranking up to four schools using the online Choice Application.

  • Enroll in your school after you get the choice lottery results in late February 2024. Your choice results email will contain a custom link for your family to enroll.

Students who receive approval of their Choice application and attend schools outside their assigned attendance area are responsible for their own transportation to and from the school. Families eligible for homeless assistance services should consult with the Student and Family Outreach Program before choosing to participate in the Choice program by calling 720-972-6015.

High School Focus Programs

Entrance into high school programs with specialized admissions criteria are managed directly by each school. Learn about each of our High School Focus Programs and how to apply. In-district and out-of-district students wishing to attend high school programs with specialized admissions criteria must apply directly with the school’s program and do not need to apply with the Choice Program.
