District Exploring New Tool To Support Students
- Focus on Students
The Five Star District has been exploring different tools to enhance its Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, or MTSS, is an approach to education that helps educators determine what each student needs based on their unique academic, behavioral and social-emotional strengths and needs. As part of their work to support students, educators use data as one tool to determine what each student needs to succeed in school.
Currently, educators need to spend a lot of time pulling data from multiple platforms in order to get a holistic view of a student's needs and what might best support their growth and learning.
The district is interested in investing in a tool that delivers all this data to educators in one place, which would give them more time to focus on developing appropriate interventions and monitoring student progress. After more than a year of research, district staff are preparing to present the Board of Education with a technology tool that we believe would greatly enhance educators’ ability to support students through various interventions.
The next step in this process is a review by the Board of Education. If the Board supports moving forward with this tool, we will begin a thoughtful implementation plan that will start with one early adopter school at the elementary, middle and high school levels. If your school is selected as an early adopter, your principal will communicate with you directly. Other schools across the district will begin adopting this tool later in the 2023-2024 school year.
We are excited about providing educators with this tool that will allow them to focus more of their time and energy on supporting students directly and provide them with better information to do so.
