District honors Runaway & Homeless Youth Awareness

The Five Star Board of Education voted unanimously to honor November as Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness Month.

Nearly 1.5 million children and youth in the United States experience homelessness every year and there were 2,400 highly mobile children and youth in Adams 12 Five Star Schools in the 2023-2024 school year.

The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Office of Whole Child Initiatives is working collaboratively with departments and schools across the district to implement proven solutions that effectively identify highly mobile children and youth and connect them with the wraparound supports, educational services, and housing resources they need to thrive.

The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education also proclaims November 14, 2024 as Wear Green for Awareness Day in Adams 12 Five Star Schools.

You can read the board proclamation here.

If your student or school is doing anything special to honor Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness Month, we’d love to showcase it on our district’s website and social media pages. Please click here to share!
