Five Star District honors Hispanic Heritage Month

Five Star District honors Hispanic Heritage Month

The Five Star Board of Education voted unanimously to honor Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month.

During National Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the diverse history of generations of Latinos, whose aspirations and achievements have shaped the soul of our community. We salute the vital contributions of these public servants and of the more than 62 million Latinos who help make our Nation stronger every day.  Latino history is American history.  It is a story of hard work, family, faith, pride, and possibility, and it is proof that there is nothing we cannot do when we do it together.

About 44 percent of Five Star students and 18 percent of staff are Hispanic/Latino. Adams 12 Five Star Schools is committed to honoring, celebrating and recognizing the contributions of Hispanic Americans, Coloradans and Five Star students and staff.

You can read the board proclamation here.

Is your student or school doing anything to celebrate? Let us know!

If your student or school is doing anything special to honor Hispanic Heritage Month, we’d love to showcase it on our district’s website and social media pages. Please click here to share!
