Safety and Security teams get ready for new year

On August 7 and 8, our School Resource Officers (SRO) from Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, and Broomfield, and our Campus Security Officers from schools around the district came together for the annual SRO Training.

This training covered a variety of topics in how our safety and security teams work in partnership with law enforcement to keep all in our communities safe. There was training on: 

• Suicide prevention
• LGBTQ+ awareness
• School discipline and the new discipline matrix
• Threat assessment
• Safe2Tell
• De-escalation tactics
• Missing and exploited children awareness
• And more

District and school safety teams, alongside the SROs, also participated in a tabletop exercise where they were presented with a real-life scenario and worked together to come to a successful conclusion. Over the two days, the group was provided with important updates and built stronger relationships as the front line of security throughout the district.
