Upcoming info nights about district calendar

Five Star families and students in grades 5-12:

As many of you know, this school year the district began gathering feedback from our community about how we might improve our school calendar. More than 9,500 of you shared your thoughts in our community survey, and more than 100 of you also attended an in-person engagement session this fall. Based on the feedback we heard, we are ready to enter the next phase of this important work.

Learn more about calendar options at an upcoming info night

The district’s Calendar Study Committee, made up of about 30 members who are staff, parents and students, reviewed all of the feedback shared during the community survey and in-person engagement events. In addition, the committee studied calendars from districts across the metro area and state and did extensive research on best practices.

Based on this feedback and research, the calendar committee is presenting two calendar options for the 2023-2024 school year at upcoming info nights. At these info nights, you will be able to view both calendar options and learn about the key benefits of each one. These info nights will be held:

  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Educational Support Center (1500 E 128th Ave, Thornton, CO 80241)
    • A Spanish-language session will be available.
  • 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at Thornton High School (9351 Washington St, Thornton, CO 80229)
    • A Spanish-language session will be available.

If you need interpretation into a language other than Spanish, please email info@adams12.org as soon as possible, and we will do everything we can to arrange for interpretation.

Can’t make it? Don’t worry!

We will share these calendar options with our community in mid-February. Families, staff and students in grades 5-12 will have the opportunity to share their feedback on each of these two options.

What’s next

After reviewing community feedback, and recommendations from the Calendar Committee, our superintendent will make a final decision on what calendar to adopt for the coming school year. We plan to publish the finalized calendar in early March.

Please note that the district calendar does not apply to charter schools, who determine their own calendars. If your child attends a district-authorized charter school, please reach out to its respective administration with any questions.
