Voters approve $830 million bond (5E) for facilities

Thank you to our community for voting ‘YES’ to invest in our school buildings. Your support helps elevate student success.

$34.5 million mill levy override (5D) for programming and staffing falls short

Unfortunately, the $34.5 million mill levy override proposal (5D), which would have helped reduce our schools’ funding gap against most of the school districts in the metro area, and gone toward staff pay and expanded programming opportunities, fell short.

The recent rise in home values across the region meant additional tax burdens for many homeowners. This posed a strong headwind against any proposed tax increase. The latest election returns show all measures involving a tax increase in the region (county, city and school district) falling short.

Moving forward, the Board of Education and district leadership will continue recent efforts to push for change in how Colorado funds its public schools given that Adams 12 Five Star Schools and other school districts trail higher property wealth districts in revenues from locally passed mill levy overrides.

We will continue to gather input from the Five Star community about the nature of future investment requests that would receive their support, and through that conversation, determine if the 2025 or 2026 elections are better suited to a successful override outcome. We'll keep you posted as those efforts progress.
