Westview Elementary hosted CDE for major announcement
On Thursday, August 24, Westview Elementary hosted students and staff from across the district as Colorado Education Commissioner Susana Córdova from the Colorado Department of Education announced that CDE will allocate $11 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds to help pre-K to 12th grade public school educators address COVID-19 learning loss. All public school teachers in Colorado can request up to $1,000 in resources to help students recover from the impact of COVID-19 thanks to the collaboration between CDE and DonorsChoose.
Adams 12 Five Star Schools Superintendent Chris Gdowski was in attendance and had this to say about the announcement.
"This is a great way to jump-start the school year for our teachers and students," Gdowski said. "This opportunity gives our teachers flexibility in addressing the unique needs of their students, while also allowing them to explore new and engaging ways to facilitate learning."
