Cherry Drive students learn ways to improve peer interactions

Cherry Drive Elementary has been using restorative practices to improve peer-to-peer interactions and problem solving skills. Their Social Emotional Learning Specialist, Ms. Fryer, has been teaching 4th and 5th grade students restorative practices by focusing on these questions:

  • What happened?
  • Who was involved and how?
  • What part in this situation can you take responsibility for?
  • What is needed to make things right?

Our Restorative Justice (RJ) student leaders will start facilitating these conversations with other students who are experiencing a conflict with a peer. At Cherry Drive, we pride ourselves in ensuring that we continuously focus on our student’s social and emotional wellness.

Cherry Drive Elementary; Restorative Practices in Our Community; What happened?; Who was involved in it and how?; What part of the situation can you take responsibility for?; What is needed to make things right?

Special thanks to the Cherry Drive Elementary community for submitting this Five Star Story.

This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Social-Emotional Learning. Sharing stories about how the district provides innovative social-emotional programming and practices to students across all schools.
