Girls Flag Football is a huge success at Horizon

During fall 2023, high schools in Adams 12 Five Star Schools were given the opportunity to participate in the girls flag football season offered through the Colorado High School Activities Association.

With this new program, female student engagement increased significantly at both Horizon High School, and many of the other district high schools. Schools saw more female student athletes became engaged in an additional sport, while others were given a chance to get involved in a school activity when they haven't in the past.

The Horizon Hawks had enough players to have both varsity and junior varsity teams. In their first year of competition, the Horizon girls flag football team qualified for the state tournament and represented the district at the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse at the Denver Broncos’ Center Health Training Center.
