Back-to-school celebration showcases Aztec culture

Hillcrest Elementary's back-to-school night signified the importance of lighting the path between our staff, families, and the entire Northglenn community. The back-to-school night started with a performance from Grupo Tlaloc Danza Azteca, a traditional Mexica/Aztec group embodied by Chicano and Mexican families and students. Grupo Tlaloc has been part of the Denver community since 1980 and has helped educate Coloradans about Aztec culture. Hillcrest’s new principal, Guadalupe Loredo-Rangel, said “Grupo Tlaloc’s drumming and dancing signified the peace and unity between us all and created a symbolic circle around our scholars and staff this school year.”

“Families were very happy to be back in the school to experience the Aztec Culture dancers and enjoy the food from the food trucks that joined us for our event,” said Mrs.Solis Solis. “It was a very special night for our families and students to come together and learn about the Aztec culture and traditions.”
