Homegrown staff honored with CCLD Teacher of the Year

Our very own Student Support Services Coordinator Kristy Klein has been awarded the 2022 Colorado Council of Learning Disabilities Special Education Teacher of the Year. As a student and graduate of Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Kristy has been elevating student success in every classroom, everyday for over 25 years. The majority of those years have been spent in the same Five Star District she grew up in.

Kristy can be described as knowledgeable, patient, committed, and adaptive. She takes her time to work with colleagues and helps them grow and understand the best ways they can meet the needs of their students. She respectfully challenges teachers to step out of their comfort zone by walking them through scenarios and asking thought-provoking questions in order for them to grow and become better educators. She works tirelessly to put together lessons for students of all abilities, mentor young teachers, and communicate with others. Kristy truly has been a master teacher and leader through her years in Adams 12.

This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: World-Class Staff. Sharing stories about how staff is compensated, supported and trained to foster student success and family partnerships.
