Legacy teacher recognized by Denver Nuggets

Our very own Monique Trujillo-Barnes who is an English Teacher at Legacy High School, has been selected at the Denver Nuggets Most Valuable Teacher for the month of November! As the Denver Nuggets MVT, Monique received a $1,000 Classroom Improvement Grant, a Classroom Visit by SuperMascot Rocky and Denver Nuggets Dancers, and an Experience at the Denver Nuggets Game where she was recognized during the game.

Here is what Monique had to say about the entire experience.

"When I was initially contacted by the Nuggets and informed that I had been selected as their Most Valuable teacher for the month of November I was surprised and, to be honest, a little embarrassed. I truly don’t feel as though I deserve any accolades for doing what I view as my job, but being selected felt incredibly special. I know how hard educators in our district work and it felt incredibly special that that hard work was recognized and acknowledged. I also know that if I have ever done anything noteworthy in my classroom and building it is because I have amazing students that make every day and ounce of hard work I do worth it. I feel incredibly lucky to get to do a job that I love and am so proud to be a bolt."

We are proud to have Monique as part of our Five Star Family elevating student success in every classroom, every day.
