Malley Drive teacher earns Avalanche MVP honor

The Colorado Avalanche, in partnership with the National Hockey League, announced Brittany Duncan, a special education teacher at Malley Drive Elementary, as their Colorado Avalanche's Most Valuable Teacher for the month of October.

The award honors outstanding educators who make a difference in their student's lives by fostering inclusivity, innovation and a passion for learning. Brittany has made an outstanding effort to tirelessly support her students with diverse learning needs, making sure that each and every student feels valued and empowered, while bringing creativity, patience, and compassion into her classroom every day.

Day in and day out, Brittany goes above and beyond to ensure each student feels valued and empowered. Her passion for education shines through in every lesson, fostering growth and development tailored to the unique needs of each student. Her creativity in adapting teaching methods and genuine compassion inspire her students, colleagues, and the entire community.

Brittany received two separate nominations, a clear sign that her dedication and commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for her students doesn't go unnoticed.

This award is not just a reflection of her individual efforts but also an acknowledgement of the importance of special education and the profound impact dedicated teachers have on the lives of their students.

Brittany received a two thousand dollar classroom grant, a plaque for her recognition, Avalanche-branded gear, memorabilia for all her students and a gift card for a dinner. She was also honored during the Avs home game on the October 23.
