"More Than GT Mornings" have hit success at Horizon
Horizon More Than GT Mornings began last year when a group of Junior SOAR students met with our GT Advocate, Tina Walters, and proposed creating a community for Horizon’s gifted and talented population through their community service project. GT students meet once a month on Wednesday morning in an inclusive and comfortable environment, to explore and discuss topics that are distinctive to these learners. These student-led presentations cover topics and issues that are relevant to GT students; these topics include perfectionism, coping mechanisms, study habits, and the unique functioning of the GT brain. Students play games and work together to problem solve, think critically, and build community.
This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Diverse Learning. Sharing stories of how students receive engaging learning experiences and the focused-attention they need through appropriate student-to-staff ratios and varied programming.
